Dr. Simone Lee is a formally qualified trichologist, researcher and a leadership expert obtaining a master’s degree in leadership from Deakin University, where she was also the recipient of an academic award for excellence owing to her research project on the psychological wellbeing of hairdressers. Simone completed her trichology training at the Australian Institute of Applied Sciences in Queensland, further enhancing her expertise through clinical education with the World Trichology Society of America. Most recently, she earned a PhD degree from the University of Southern Queensland. The Australian Institute of Trichology was established following Simone’s esteemed memberships in the World Trichology Society of America and the American Hair Loss Council, illuminating her dedication to the advancement of the hair science field in Australia. This initiative was motivated by her passion for education, continuous professional development, and the necessity to offer advanced hair science learning opportunities for salon practitioners.
With over three decades of experience in the cosmetic and cosmetology industries, Simone founded one of Western Australia’s most awarded salon brands, which she established at the age of 18. Throughout her creative career, she has collaborated with numerous celebrities in film and television, served as an international creative director for various fashion events and secured significant roles, which include hair science educator, ambassador, and media representative for leading brands such as Kevin.Murphy, Redken, Schwarzkopf Professional, Dyson Australia, and Virtue Labs. As a qualified trainer and assessor, Simone has developed and delivered innovative science and creative programs for prominent organisations (e.g., Jean Yip Group in Singapore, GHD, and Medavita in Malaysia).
Recently Simone gained national attention appearing on the television during a Today Tonight segment that focused on her research on the correlation between scalp aging and facial aging and the significant implications for the hairdressing industry. Her ongoing involvement in the cosmetology and trichology fields, as a member of Inter Clinical Labs, Safe Laboratories Australia, and The International Trichoscopy Society, along with her numerous contributions to hair science featuring in leading organisations media publications (e.g., Mocha Group, News Corporation, Vogue Australia, and Mamamia) has established her as a trusted hair science authority.
